Our History

Z & W is Suzan Zimmerman (Wiley) and Charles Wiley. Charles, born in Germany and an Atlanta native, studied at Georgia State University and graduated with a Bachelors degree in Metalsmithing. Suzan was born and raised in Pennsylvania, attended Penn State University and graduated from Eastern Kentucky University with a Bachelors of Fine Arts degree with a specialty area in design and illustration.

Separately and together, the two have worked primarily in service to the jewelry trade. Due to their attention to detail and specialization areas in sculptural work and sculptural reproduction, both the fashion and entertainment industries have also sought their talent and unique skills.  They have been the artists that stores and stone brokers have subcontracted to in the Atlanta area since the mid 1980s. Models and finished pieces from their shop have been contracted by nationally known fashion designers and have appeared in magazines such as Elle, Glamour, and Cosmopolitan. Their pieces have been used as television, commercial and movie props.

Their own line of jewelry (named "I think Knot" became the name of their website and is based on Celtic knotwork motifs)pieces, contemporary and one of a kind pieces can be discovered at the occassional arts or heritage festival and are available for purchase at select local retailers. All of their original models are handcrafted, reproducted vis lost wax casting and each piece is then hand polished. This craft and process lends to uniqueness and quality not found in mass manufactured pieces and all are made in the USA.
